the swiss automotive design studio rinspeed is poised to release their vision for the future of automobiles
at the upcoming geneva motor show. their UC? concept is a small smart car-esque vehicle that is all
electric. the car concept is to radical on the outside but the interior is filled with some advanced
electronics and new interactive technology. the in-car system is designed specifically to synch with the
user’s mobile. while the car won’t have a huge driving range due to the small size of its battery, the car
is designed to charge on the go at any number of charging stations. despite its small size, the UC?
concept also has lots of trunk space for hauling around groceries. most notably the car doesn’t have a
steering wheel, instead users steer the car using a center mounted joystick making it possible to steer
from the left or right.

architectural firms SeARCH and CMA have collaborated to build a holiday home
called 'villa vals' underneath the alpine slopes of vals, switzerland. concealed under
mountain slopes, this project designed by bjarne mastenbroek and christian müller has
succeeded in keeping the surrounding nature unobstructed with heavy architectural
development. 'villa vals' consists of a fascade with many window openings and a steeply
inclined central patio. the interior features a compact setup of bedrooms with bunk beds,
elevated bathrooms and raised podiums with king-size beds. the entrance into the home is
through an old graubunder barn and an underground tunnel.

'villa vals' is currently available for rent.

lifegoods design is currently showcasing 'at-at walker' at [d3] design talents
at imm cologne 2010. it is a series of lamps treated as precious wood furniture.
lifegoods design is a product design consultancy consisting of members:
sophie depéry, singal moesch, olivier burgisser.

'we are fascinated by wood and its codes. we pick up antique details of cabinetwork
and give the object a look which is totally contemporary due to its dimensions. we explore
the limits of the wooden piece by expanding its legs and by creating a drawer that functions
as a light dimmer. the lamp is like a science fiction object but characterized by the warmth
and the preciousness of the woodwork.

'I have called this voracious tray 'fat' because it has already swallowed everyhing you
need for setting a table, which is now on the inside, while on top, fresh food, beverages
or pastries area ready to be served during a business meeting or an afternoon tea. it is
the first tray/container by alessi and their only wooden tray currently in production.'

123dl, set composed of three glasses/measuring cups in crystalline glass

'123dl is a set of three glasses intended for all sorts of purposes: drinking/toasting,
measuring/cooking, stacking/storing. I was thinking about these glasses as a set that
could satisfy numerous needs throughout the day: maybe for a snack, or enjoying an
espresso or a cappuccino or ... using these same three glasses as measuring cups: flour
in the tallest glass (3 dl), 4 eggs in the medium one (2 dl) and salt to taste'

cups can be used for aperitifs, dinner, tea breaks or measure recipe ingredients
